Meet Gary
Owner-operated painting in Southern New Hampshire, led by Gary Debreceni.
Owner-Operated Painting in Southern New Hampshire
With 25 years of experience in the trades, Gary brings a strong background in both painting and roofing to every project.
His experience began working with family-owned businesses in Florida and New Hampshire, followed by years of professional experience with the Boston Painters Union. Having family throughout New Hampshire and Massachusetts and spending much of his career working in the region, Gary has deep roots in New England and a genuine understanding of the communities he serves.
He also understands what makes New England homes unique—from older homes and wood exteriors to the effects of snow, ice, rain, humidity, and changing seasons. That local knowledge helps him approach each project with the preparation and workmanship needed for our climate.
Now, Gary is bringing his experience home through this new local venture, focused on quality work, personal service, and building a reputation within the community.
25 years of experience. Local roots. A New England understanding. A commitment to doing the job right.

Our Approach to Painting
The job starts with an in-person look at the surfaces, not a phone quote pulled from square footage. Gary walks the rooms or elevations, notes what has to be repaired or washed, and writes a scope you can read. Preparation comes first: cleaning, sanding where it is needed, filling, priming, and protecting floors, furniture, and landscaping. Paint is the last step, not the only one.
Communication stays direct because the company is owner-operated. If a question comes up mid-project, you are not routed through a dispatcher. Products and sheen are chosen for the surface and for New England weather, not because a brand name sounds premium. The work ends with cleanup and a final walkthrough. Workmanship is backed by a 3-year quality guarantee.
Homes and Businesses We Serve
Most of the calendar is residential: interior rooms, exterior siding and trim, kitchens and cabinets, decks, fences, and the repairs that belong in front of paint. We also paint commercial interiors and exteriors for property owners and managers. Small and large projects are both welcome. A single bedroom and a full exterior are estimated the same way—walk it, write it, schedule it.
Why Experience Matters
Twenty-five years in the trades does not make a house paint itself. It does change how you read a peeling clapboard, a stained ceiling, or a kitchen that has been “touched up” too many times. Older New England construction, layered coatings, and seasonal moisture are familiar problems. Experience shows up in the estimate: what is included, what is a separate repair, and what should wait for weather.
Lead-Safe Certified Work
Many older homes in Southern New Hampshire were painted when lead-based coatings were still in use. Those houses may contain lead paint. Legacy Brushworks is Lead-Safe Certified for qualifying projects. That means containment, careful prep, and thorough cleanup on the work we disturb. It is not a medical diagnosis and it is not a claim that every older house is identical. Mention the age of the property when you request an estimate. Details are on our lead-safe painting page.
