Frequently Asked Questions
Straightforward answers about estimates, prep, color help, and how we work.
General Painting Questions
Do you offer free estimates?
Yes. Free in-person estimates are available 7 days a week, 8 AM–7 PM. Gary Debreceni walks the property and provides a written scope. Call (351) 215-0110, email pros@legacybrushworks.com, or use the estimate form.
Do you offer financing?
At this time, we do not offer financing. We provide detailed estimates upfront so you can plan the project.
Are you insured?
Yes. We maintain insurance coverage for our painting services and can provide documentation when needed.
Do you offer a warranty?
Yes. We provide a 3-year quality guarantee at no additional cost. Every project also includes a final walkthrough before we consider the job complete.
Is there a final walkthrough?
Yes. We review the finished work with you, clean the work areas, and leave only when that review is done.
Do you provide cleanup?
Yes. Project materials and debris are removed, and work areas are cleaned before we leave. Floors and furnishings are protected during the job as the scope requires.
Interior Painting Questions
Do you paint walls, ceilings, trim, and doors?
Yes. Interior painting covers walls, ceilings, trim, doors, and architectural details. Sheen is chosen by room so kitchens, baths, and hallways wear the way they should. See our interior painting page.
Can you help me choose paint colors?
Yes. Complimentary color swatch meetings happen at your property so you can see options in your actual lighting. We stay with it until you are happy with the selection.
Do you help choose paint and products?
Yes. We recommend paints, primers, stains, and finishes for the surface and for New England climate—not a one-product answer for every wall.
How long does interior painting take?
It depends on room count, ceiling height, repairs, and whether trim and doors are included. The estimate states a realistic window after we see the house. Interiors can usually proceed year-round.
Exterior Painting Questions
How often should you paint a house exterior in New Hampshire?
There is no single year count that fits every house. Sun, moisture, siding type, and how well the last job was prepped all matter. Peeling, widespread fading, or bare wood are clearer signals than a calendar. We look at the house and tell you whether it needs paint now, later, or only on the weathered sides.
Do you work year-round?
Interior projects can generally be completed year-round. Exterior projects are scheduled around temperature, moisture, and weather so the coating can be applied correctly.
Do you power wash before exterior paint?
Often, yes. Dirty siding, mildew, and oxidation get in the way of a new coat. Pressure is matched to the material. Not every surface wants the same setting. See power washing and exterior painting.
Preparation and Repairs
Do you handle preparation?
Yes. Prep may include power washing, scraping, sanding, caulking, drywall repair, patching, and priming, depending on the project. Paint is the last step.
Can you repair drywall before painting?
Yes. Nail holes, cracks, dents, and damaged areas should be repaired before primer, or they will show. Drywall repair can stand alone or sit inside an interior painting scope. Details: drywall repair.
Do you remove wallpaper?
Yes. We remove paper, clean adhesive, and repair the wall so it can take paint. Some walls tear; that repair is part of getting a paint-ready surface. See wallpaper removal.
Cabinet Refinishing
Can you refinish cabinets instead of replacing them?
Often, yes, if the boxes and doors are sound. Refinishing is prep and coating, not a thin coat over grease. We do not quote replacement vs refinishing as a price contest without seeing the kitchen. Read cabinet refinishing.
Do you paint kitchen cabinets and bathroom vanities?
Yes, when the existing cabinetry is a good candidate. The estimate looks at condition, hardware, and whether doors will be finished on-site or as the kitchen allows.
Estimates and Scheduling
How do I get started?
Request a free estimate by form, email, or phone. We will discuss the project, walk the property, and recommend an approach for your home or business.
Do you take small jobs?
Yes. Small and large projects are both welcome. A few rooms, a side of the house, or a full recast can all be estimated.
Who comes to the estimate?
Gary Debreceni. Legacy Brushworks is owner-operated. The person who writes the scope is accountable for the finished work.
Service Area Questions
What areas do you serve?
Manchester, Concord, Nashua, Bedford, Goffstown, Hooksett, Londonderry, Derry, Merrimack, Salem, Hudson, and Bow, plus nearby Southern New Hampshire communities when the job fits. The shop is at 24 Michael St, Manchester, NH 03104. See the service area.
Do you paint commercial properties?
Yes. Offices, commercial interiors and exteriors, and other business properties for owners and managers. Scheduling around tenants is discussed at the estimate. See commercial painting.
Lead-Safe Painting Questions
Do you work on older homes?
Yes. Older New England homes are a regular part of the work. We are Lead-Safe Certified for qualifying projects. Mention the age of the house when you request an estimate.
Does every older home contain lead paint?
No. Homes built when lead paint was still in use may contain it. That is not a medical claim and it is not true of every house of a given age. We look at the coatings and use lead-safe practices on qualifying work. Read lead-safe painting.
