Professional Wallpaper Removal from Legacy Brushworks

Wallpaper removal is slow, wet, and unforgiving if you rush it. Paper that looks like it will “peel right off” often takes the facing of the drywall with it. Legacy Brushworks removes wallpaper and gets the walls ready for paint as owner-operated work. Gary Debreceni will look at the room, test how the paper is bonded, and write a scope that includes repair, not just stripping.

What Our Wallpaper Removal Includes

Scoring or lifting where it is safe, controlled moisture, removal of sheets, and cleanup of paste. Then the wall is evaluated: torn facing, old adhesive, and holes all need attention before primer. Removal without drywall repair leaves a surface that new paint will advertise. Most rooms then go to interior painting so you are not living with raw patches.

When You May Need Wallpaper Removal

Dated patterns, peeling seams, bathrooms where paper never belonged, and houses where every owner added a layer are the usual calls. Some paper is vinyl and stubborn. Some is dry-strippable. You find out on the wall, not from the pattern book. If the home is older, mention that at the estimate so we can plan around plaster, later drywall, and any coatings underneath.

Our Preparation Process

Floors and remaining furniture are protected. We work in sections so the house is not soaked at once. After the paper is off, paste comes off. Repairs are mudded, sanded, and primed. Skipping paste removal is how new paint bubbles months later. We would rather take the extra day than coat a sticky wall.

Plaster, later drywall, and a mix of both in one room change how aggressive we can be with moisture. A test corner tells us more than the pattern. Some vinyl strips clean. Some fabric-backed paper pills into the facing. Multiple layers mean multiple chances to tear the wall. None of that is a reason to skip removal if the paper has to go; it is a reason to put repair in the same estimate. Our interior painting checklist covers what to clear from a room before this kind of work starts.

Benefits of Professional Wallpaper Removal

You get walls that can actually be painted, not a peel job that becomes a repair emergency at 7 p.m. The work is insured. Small rooms and whole-house paper are both welcome. Color consultation is complimentary once the walls are ready for a new finish.

Why Choose Legacy Brushworks

Legacy Brushworks is owner-operated by Gary Debreceni. He brings 25 years of trade experience to homes and businesses across Southern New Hampshire. Estimates are free. Color consultations are complimentary. Work is insured. Qualifying older-home projects can be handled with Lead-Safe Certified practices. Finished work carries a 3-year quality guarantee. The slogan is simple because the standard is simple: we don’t cut corners, we paint them.

You deal with the person running the company, not a rotating sales desk. That shows up in how the estimate is written, how floors and furniture are protected, and how the job is walked at the end. Read more on why property owners hire us, or go straight to a date on the calendar.

Areas We Serve

Wallpaper still shows up in older interiors in Concord and Manchester, in Nashua homes that have not been opened up in years, and in Bedford houses where a previous owner papered a feature wall. If your town is on our list, we can estimate the room. Bring patience. Paper does not care about your move-in date.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do you paint after wallpaper is removed?

Usually yes. Once paper, paste, and damaged facing are handled, the walls should be primed and painted so the room is uniform. Removal and interior painting are often one project.

Will removal damage the drywall?

It can, especially if the paper was installed over unprimed board or has been there for decades. We repair what the removal opens up rather than pretending the wall will be perfect the minute the paper is gone.

Can you remove wallpaper from one room only?

Yes. Small and large projects are both welcome. A single bath or a whole-floor papered hall can each be estimated.

Do you remove paste and adhesive as well as the paper?

Yes. Leaving paste under new paint is a common reason finishes fail. Cleaning and priming belong in the same conversation as stripping the sheets.

What if there are multiple layers of paper?

Multiple layers take longer and may reveal more wall damage. The estimate after seeing the room is more accurate than a guess from a photo of the top pattern.
